So Love prates is getting closer, only 3 more weeks to go. So the countdown has begun. I have continued to meet up with other members of the decor team almost every Tuesday, to work on some of the bigger projects. Improving signs and making lots more Jelly fish, but this time, smaller ones. That can be hung along with some bunting, to guide people towards the festival. We have been making them out of old CD's that we found, along with scraps of material and other bits and pieces, that we have salvaged along the way.

( You can see the smaller Jelly fish hanging in the back, along with lots of other creations.)

I am a bit of a magpie, certain things draw my attention, when I am dumpster diving. I can't take too much, as I don't have lots of space, but I have collected some stuff that I always knew would come in handy one day. Heading the Decor Team for Love Pirates, well, it has led to that day. Repurposing different items, is something I love to do. Once I start my imagination just goes wild.

(The makings of a Pirate Space, I'm very excited about this one, you can also see it in the first photo.)

Today me and Helen, started to make a mini Pirate Ship out of an old bassonet, that we found at the bins. We used cardboard to form the Bow of the ship and also to help ive it shape and then we started to paper mache it. With paper that we had also salvaged. We got it covered, then next week we can focus on painting it and Decorating it. Sam another member of the decor team, has been super busy and made the most amazing swords out of paper mache as well a a wicked Pirate sign. I was very impressed.

( The tentacles I made last year, they need a little bit of love, but they have weathered well.)

I will bring the tentacles that we made last year, with us next week, where we hope to pimp them up a bit. They worked out so well last time, especially as I sprayed some of them in neon paint, which glowed so well under the U.V light. I did want to make the body of the Octupus but, I'm not sure I will have enough time. We will have to see.

( An almost finished flag, it needs a bit more tweeking and then it will be done, 7 more to go.)

I have been focusing more of Flags of late. Four heart flags and four Skull and Cross bow flags. I have been busy making the hearts for the flags, which I have made by cutting out different sizes from some pretty funky material and then sewing them, from largest to the smallest. I have one flag made so far, the other 3 hearts are already made, I just need to cut out the material for the flags and sew them. I'm using canna for the frames, as it grows in abundance out this way.

The pirate flags, I will use a stencil and just spray paint the Skull and Crow bow onto each flag. Using the Canna once again for the frame. I like the idea of making rectangle flags, I find them more suitable for festivals. I will also make a small plag for the little pirate ship we are making.

I must say, it has been rather lovely, making lots of hearts these past few weeks and then sewing them. I have lots left over, so I plan on making some bunting with them. I have already sewed one onto my pants, cos why not. I might add a few to some other items of my clothing.

All in all, I have been loving, taking this time to be so creative and productive. As the date draw nearer, I can't wait to see all the decor up.
