Did we really land on the Moon? - Or did Hollywood beat NASA to it?

I used to totally ignore Twitter ( (or X... whatever it’s called now 🙄). I mean, why use yet another app when I already had like 20 social media accounts? (Okay fine... maybe just 3, but it feels like 20.) I figured, "All the same news ends up everywhere anyway, right?"

But my husband and brother kept sending me tweets like it was their full-time job. I finally gave in: “Fiiine boys... I’ll make an account.” So I did. And then… I immediately forgot about it. Like, straight-up created it and ghosted it. I was protesting with passion...I was not gonna fall into the Twitter hole.

But one fateful, boring day, I tapped that little bird (or weird “X” now) icon. Just a quick peek. Just a tiny scroll. Famous last words.

I started reading posts. Then I started reading the comments. Then comments on the comments. Then I had no clue what I was reading anymore. Was it the original tweet? Was it a reply? A reply to the reply to the reply?

And just like that...I was sucked in. I laughed SO hard. People are either hilarious, wild, or possibly unhinged (and I say that with love). An hour flew by like 3 minutes. I closed the app, looked at my husband with wide eyes and said, “Nope. I’m out. My brain is sizzling. I can’t do this again.” 😵‍💫

It legit felt like I had taken digital drugs. Social media is an addiction...we all know it, let’s not lie. 😄

So now, I only open it sometimes. Not daily. Not addicted. (Look at me go! 🥇)

But TODAY… I was a little bored again. So I peeked. Again. First thing I see? A post from the man who owns the whole platform...you know who.Yep.

He said something like “we were on the Moon 66 years ago.” Which... math? (It was actually 56 years ago—Apollo 11 was in 1969, buddy. 😅) But hey, we all mess up sometimes. Maybe he was typing fast, maybe he used a calculator from 1972, who knows?

Then he said something like, “We should’ve been on Mars by now.” Fair point. But the comments? OHHH the comments. That’s where it all exploded.

People were going HARD debating whether we even went to the Moon in 1969. Some swore it was fake, filmed in a Hollywood basement. Others came armed with science, history, and a lot of CAPS LOCK.

And me? I just grabbed popcorn ( yep, also addicted) and enjoyed the madness 🍿

So here’s the fun part...I’m gonna break down the most popular Moon landing conspiracy theories I saw, and why they don’t really hold up. Let’s GO:

Conspiracy #1: The shadows in Moon photos are weird. Must be fake!
Debunked: It’s just perspective. Shadows can look wonky in photos, especially in wide open spaces. Artists and photographers have known this for centuries. Go outside during sunset, you’ll see the same effect.

Conspiracy #2: Van Allen radiation belt would’ve fried the astronauts!
Debunked: They passed through it quickly. The exposure time was super short—not long enough to cause harm. NASA planned for that, yep.

Conspiracy #3: The flag is waving! There’s no wind on the Moon!
Debunked: The flag had a metal rod across the top to keep it up. The wrinkles? From being folded in the spaceship. No breeze, just crinkled fabric.

Conspiracy #4: "No stars in the sky!
Debunked: Ever taken a photo during the day? You won’t see stars. Cameras on the Moon were adjusted to capture the bright lunar surface, not distant starlight.

Conspiracy #5: If we went in 1969 till 1972, why haven’t we gone back?
Debunked: Because of politics, money, and shifting priorities. The U.S. already “won” the space race. Then we focused on the Space Shuttle and the ISS. Plus, it’s crazy expensive.

Conspiracy #6: Tech wasn’t advanced enough in the '60s!
Debunked: They didn’t need iPhones or Wi-Fi. The Apollo missions used specialized, mechanical systems. Analog engineering, baby! Built by geniuses for one job.

Conspiracy #7: Who filmed Neil Armstrong stepping onto the Moon?
Debunked: A camera was mounted outside the lander, ready to go. No Moon cameramen needed.

NASA’s got tons of evidence: photos, videos, Moon rocks, equipment left behind, data galore. You can literally see the landing sites with telescopes now.

Additionally, NASA estimates that around 400,000 individuals in the United States contributed to the Apollo program. Therefore, trying to silence such a large group of people and compensating them for their silence would likely be more expensive than the actual moon landing itself. :)))

( Look, Mars on Madeira) 😂

So yeah, I believe we went to the Moon. The proof is solid. And honestly, I LOVE hearing both sides. Debating this is always a blast with friends, family, or random internet strangers. 😄

So tell me. What do YOU think? Did we go to the Moon, or was it all smoke and mirrors?
Let’s debate! Keep it friendly and fun—I’ve got snacks and memes ready 😎🚀✨
