A few shots of the Fort
Good Morning
I hope all is well with you
Happy Tuesday
Warning i start the post with a long waffle about some medical issue, you may want to scroll right on by it and get to the photos :)
Today to be honest I am a bit frutstrated and my mind is racing all over the place at the moment
As you may or may not know, I had a few Colonoscopys, 6 months aprt and was gettign lot sof POlyps, nd I ended up doing a genetic test and it was discovered i have a gene which makes me at very high risk of developing colon cancer.
OK as I said my mind is all over the placve so just switching a bit here and saying so no one worries I do not have colon cancer thats not what I am frustrated about.
So back to the back story, the gene I have and how many Polyps I have had put me at a 99% chance of developinbg Colon Cancer, so the Drs recommended i have what they call a sub total Colonectomy, which is where they removed most of my colon.
as I understand it the average colon is 5 foot long, and they took out all but about 6 inches of mine.
The logic being I had never had polyps on that portion of my colon on after that on the way out if you know what I mean.
The surgery went well but i had complications, ended up needing a second surgery and spent over 5 weeks in Hospital.
So yesterday I had my colonoscopy and before it the Doctor saw me and said lets hope I dont prove him wrong and that I have no polyps on the portion left behind.
Well I had the procedure when the Dr came in, i could tell by the look on his face the result wasnt quite what he or I was hoping for, I had two polyps, and at the end of the colon and in the rectum, so now waiting for the biopsy results, but the Dr is hopeful they are not of any major concern and the biopsy results will take a week or two, and I am scheuled for a follow up in a years time for another colonoscopy.
NOw two polys isnt bad in most cases, but after having the majority of my colon removed I have to admit i was hoping for none, but I am tellign myself or trying to, ohh well its a lot better than the 20 or more I had bene having, and that the biopsy results will be good,
Today would have been a good day for a nice sunrise walk to clear my head, but alas it was pouring down and perhaps thats what has let it get on my mind, hopefuly writing this post and then editing some photos I will get back into my more positive fun mindset
OK enough of a long drawn out into lets get to the photos

A little bit about the fort
Also known as the Old Stone Fort, Fort Rodman (known as "Fort at Clark's Point" until 1898) began construction in 1857 under the third system of US fortifications, and in 1862 construction became overseen by Henry Robert, author of Robert's Rules of Order and an Army Corps of Engineers officer. The fort, as built, had emplacements for 72 cannon in three tiers; a fourth tier was originally planned, but this was removed from the design to allow more timely completion. Construction was halted in 1871, and the fort as planned was never completed.

In the past apparently they used to open it up once or twice a year for people to see the inside, but that has stopped as it is deemed unsaffe now, I hope one day they find the motivation and funding to restore it
