There was a time, not too long ago, where an aspiring actor or actress had to compete against those who were of the same age, availability, and look for a role.
It is all going to change.
In the near future, we will see these individuals competing against any actor or actress who ever lived.
This means that a casting for a role might not include other available actors but also Steve McQueen. The estate of McQueen could license his likeness out for a fee, providing the ability for a movie studio to cast him. With AI, he could be the star in a completely new project.
Of course, why would a film require Steve McQueen? This is what we will look at in this article.
Death of Hollywood: Steve McQueen Could Be Starring In New Films
AI has the ability to revive anyone. When we consider the amount of content put out by movie stars over the years, these are great materials which to train an AI model. It is something that could result in new films "starring" these people.
Consider what that means for the acting profession. We could take Kurt Russell and, once again, have him acting as a child. He was a star at a very young age, providing the footage needed to replicate that.
We could take someone like Fred MacMurray. Were you a fan of My Three Sons? That is one of his most iconic roles.
However, he was a Hollywood star in his younger days, something that could be used for AI generation.
If we take this another step further, why do we need these stars anyway? It is possible for movie studios to create their own characters. They already do this with animation. Consider Mickey Mouse, Lilo, Daffy Duck, and the Simpsons.
None of them exist in real life. Naturally, there is voice over work as actors are the voice behind the characters.
With AI, even that is not necessary.
A studio could simply create a non-animated character, complete with a voice and personality.
Decentralization
The ability to produce the content is going to rapidly move beyond the Hollywood Studios. That is why I keep saying Hollywood is dead.
It is more than just the physical location. This is certainly a phase, where movie production is showing up in other cities around the world. Miami, Atlanta, London, and Vancouver are just a few that took business away from Southern California.
However, this entire industry is about to be wiped out. Hollywood celebrities, whatever relevance they do still have, will quickly disappear. Nobody is going to care about their films, let alone what they say.
Within 5 years, we will have other movie "stars", those who are generated by AI. They will have the ability to appear across a variety of mediums, following that of today's stars. At some point, people will get use to the new forms of entertainment.
This is going to cause a massive push with regards to the decentralization of video. We already see that with social media video. It will eventually bleed into feature length films.
It is also why live performances will continue to gain in utility. People will want that connection.
Outside of that, it will all be driven by AI.
