The AI revolution is taking place.
We already saw Google lay off a number of employees in its ad division is AI is being used for placements.
Meta is taking it one step further, providing the opportunity for companies to serve up full AI ads.
This is something that it seeks to implement in 2026.
The Internet is going to be taken over by AI. This is a large part of Web 3.0. Naturally, Meta is a traditional, Web 2.0 platform. It is obvious they are transitioning to AI integration.
Meta To Fully Automate AI Ads
Over the last decade, AI has been crucial for advertising platforms. Companies like Meta have used algorithms to determine what ads to deliver to people. This was done by scouring the activity of individuals, running the data through algorithms, and getting the ads recommendations.
This started the higher end evolution of targeted ads.
It appears the next phase will affect the content itself.
Meta Platforms aims to allow brands to fully create and target advertisements with its artificial intelligence tools by the end of 2026, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The social media company's apps have 3.43 billion unique active users globally and its AI-driven tools help create personalized ad variations, image backgrounds, and automated adjustments to video ads, making it lucrative for advertisers.
In other words, much of what we see on Meta applications with regards to advertisements will be AI generated.
Of course, this should not come as a surprise.
Last year, Coca Cola caused controversy with this AI generated ad.
If we fast forward 6 months, the quality of output from AI video generators has increased significantly. Obviously Meta is working on something that will be built into its platforms.
My forecast was that, by the end of 2025, we would start to see AI generated ads appearing regularly online. There are still a number of month to see if that projection comes true. At worst, it appears to be only 6 months off.
Personalization
One of the keys to Web 3.0 is going to be the personalization of different services. This is something that is happening at scale.
While the 3D printing world is a bit slow to develop, this is an example of a technology that is going to move away from the mass produced, one size fits all model. Printers allow for individual content creation, in this instance in the form of physical products.
Meta is also going to integrate this in.
Meta also plans to let advertisers personalize ads using AI, so that users see different versions of the same ad in real time, based on factors such as geolocation, according to the report.
Does this enhance the user experience?
Over time, if the capabilities get better, this could provide insight into the future. We are moving towards a time where things are not only personal, but truly catered to the needs of an individual. This means having the right information available when it is needed.
Targeted ads were a step forward. At least there was a chance the items promoted were of some interest. A couple with no children is not likely to have much of an interest in clothing for toddlers.
What about ads appearing as items are needed. Based upon the information that is provided to Meta by the individual, which we know that can be enormous for some, the AI is able to keeps adding to a profile.
For example, if someone mentioned how their son will be graduating high school in a couple years, that information will establish a timeline of when a host of services would be required.
The same is true for wedding announcements that take place online.
Ultimately, I believe we will each have AI agents that are responsible for garnering services as we need this. This is a bit difference since it is being done (to us) by an application. However, over time, this will shift as we have something personal that we train.
As we can see, AI is penetrating even more of our world. Meta's move will impact over 3 billion people. There is a chance the majority will not even notice.
It is happening though.
