What are HivePosh snaps and how to participate?

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to write a different post as usual. I prefer writing about games mostly but when I see the need for a certain guide, I am more than glad to write one. So, I hope you find it interesting to read this guide about HivePosh snaps.

Maybe you are wondering why I write it exactly? Well, about 20days ago, @acidyo made a post to announce the soft launch of the Hiveposh snaps which could be found here. A couple of days ago, he made a post to give a shoutout to some frequent users of the HivePosh snaps, including myself. Once again, thanks for the shout-out! It's much appreciated. A couple of people commented that they didn't understand completely how the initiative works. Besides these comments, I had already seen a couple of comments on the snaps as well that people don't completely understand. Ofcourse, there are enough people to help and explain it, but in my opinion a guide with printscreens could probably help. So here we go.

Snaps and commentrewarder

First a short introduction about snaps. Leofinance started with their threads, similar to Twitter, about a year ago, or maybe even earlier, I don't know exactly. PeakD jumped on the wagon as well and created Snaps. As said, Snaps is made for shortform content, maximum 280 characters to be exact.

The last year, another development was made: commentrewarder. You can find the full article here. In short, it's a way of rewarding meaningfull comments on your post. For example, if I write a blogpost and add @commentrewarder as a beneficiary for 10%, than 10% of my postrewards will be divided among the comments I upvote in the first three days after writing the blogpost.

The snaps should be seen as several comments to a containerpost. On that containerpost, you could activate above mentioned commentrewarder as is done on Peakd snaps.

Goal of HivePosh snaps

All good that introduction about snaps and commentrewarder but what is the goal of HivePosh snaps?
Well, the goal of POSH in general is to share Hive on other, web2, social media. Ofcourse we all want that everyone should know about Hive as a decentralized alternative for the common known Social Media like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc. But if people don't know us, they can't start to figure out Hive. That's why POSH is invented to attract more eyes to Hive through sharing what we write on web2 social media.

The difference between POSH and GOSH

One last explanation before I head over to the guide of how you could participate yourself. There are two hashtags used in the HivePosh snaps: POSH and GOSH. POSH is used for Proof Of SHaring. Thus, when you have shared something, you post a printscreen of what you shared. GOSH on the other hand stands for GO SHaring which is rather a question of something you find and want other Hivians to share. In brief that's the difference.

How to participate yourself?

GOSH

I'll try to explain it as easily as possible. Firstly, you should head over to the HivePosh community (the community where this article is written). You can find it by clicking on this link: https://peakd.com/c/hive-197333 You will see the following screen:

When you click on the snaps in the green square, you will go to the HivePosh snaps container.
Important: Don't click on the snaps at the top of the screen in the blue square as that will open the general snaps of PeakD.

When clicked on the snaps in the green square, you will go to the following page:

As you can see, you are still in the HivePosh community. So definitely check that if it's your first time exploring HivePosh snaps.

Now you can start to look around on social media, it could be anything like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, etc for a post about Hive. For example when I was scrolling through my feed on X (former Twitter), I came across this post in which @oadissin explains how he had found out about Hive:

Link
It's important to like, repost and comment on good posts about Hive to attract more eyes. That's how the algorithms work, the more engagement, the more it will appear in people's feed.

I scrolled to check the HivePosh snaps to see if it wasn't already shared with the #gosh tag. I figured out, it wasn't already shared by someone with the question to get more attention to the above X post. Thus I proceeded to make my own snap which looks as follows:

I marked three areas, as I always build my snap in three steps:

  1. A brief summary what the shared post is about, usually one sentence or a couple of words.
  2. The #gosh tag, by utilizing this one, others know that I am asking to check it out and engage with the shared post.
  3. The link to the post.

Important: Post a link to the post in your snap, not a picture as it should be as easy as possible for others to find the shared post.

Than you click on snap and your snap will be created.

POSH

Asking for others to engage with posts you found is one thing, but if people only ask and never engage with the posts others have found, than these posts won't get much engagement. When you share some posts yourself, don't forget to engage with snaps from others as well. I will show an example as well.

Once again you go to https://peakd.com/c/hive-197333/snaps and you search for a snap with the #gosh tag which you want to help spread the word about:

You click on the link leading to X.

Engage with the post: Repost, Like and comment
It's important you do all three, the more we engage, the better the algorith will pick it up

You than take a screenshot of you engaging with the shared post and comment it on the snap:

Conclusion

As you could see, it's definitely not that hard to participate in the #posh and #gosh snaps of HivePosh. As we all want Hive to succeed, we should all help in my opinion. I haven't talked about the potential rewards you could receive as I don't want to emphasize on it but when you participate and do everything correctly, you could receive some upvotes from @ocdb or @acidyo. It's definitely some great extra motivation. ;)

Don't go spamming though, there are no limits, but use your brains.

Disclaimer: First picture is made by Acidyo, others are printscreened by myself. I am by no means affiliated by HivePosh, just an enthousiast user!
