Hello and welcome back to my blog!
The Binding of Isaac has very addictive gameplay. Clearing one room after the other while finding unique and different items to upgrade some stat of your character to beat the floor's boss in the hope of getting powerful enough to take on 'Mom'.
Last time, I talked about the weird challenges the game has and how I was able to complete just a few of them. Even though these challenges are fun and unique, my favourite game mode in the game remains the normal runs. You can choose which character you want to play and plan your run accordingly.
For now, the goal seems to be reaching Mom's heart and killing it. I have done it multiple times, but I've heard that if you kill it enough times, the game will start getting tougher, and we will encounter even more bosses.
After clearing 7-8 floors in a row, I reached Mom's Heart. It
I had an army of familiars who were assisting me in this run. I like this boss fight, and you get a lot of projectiles that fill the entire room, and it is hard to kill it without taking some damage. That's why I had a good buffer of hearts with plenty of attack power to not prolong this battle.
I told you before that the game has multiple endings, You can see 22 endings listed in the 'Endings' section of the game in the main menu. And depending on some criteria of the boss defeated (I don't understand how exactly it works), more endings are unlocked. This specific end turned out to be different from the rest.
This one is listed as Ending #2 in the game, where Isaac finds a bottle of drugs/medicine in the golden chest. And in the next frame, Isaac's eyes turned white, likely indicating the overdose of this drug. lol
Little bro shouldn't be touching her mom's stuff. My interpretation of this ending is that his mom is a drug edict that why she is hearing voices which command her to sacrifice her son (Isaac) to the Gods. Looks like Isaac found the stash of this drug and used it.
The strange part about this ending is that I have killed Mom's heart many times now, but never seen this ending before. That's why I am thinking it is linked to how many times I defeated it.
I wanted to unlock Lilith, but for that, I had to beat Greed Mode with Azazel, and the problem with Azazel is that he has no red heart containers and only has 3 black heart containers to start with. These black hearts are temporary hearts, unlike the Red hearts, which can be easily found and heal up. Doing it in Greed Mode, where you face wave after wave of enemies in a single room, is not the ideal mode for Azazel. But I tried my best.
The first three attempts failed miserably on the first couple of floors only. But then, I got a lucky run with a lot of red heart containers, so I could take many devil deals and get cool items.
Finally, after a couple of hours of struggling with this character, I reached the final boss floor. But this guy has so much health.
Even though I had 5 full hearts at the start of the fight. He went through them quite easily. It deals full heart damage, unlike most other bosses, which deal half heart damage.
I was so close to beating it, but one of his coins killed me. Look at its health bar on the bottom, it is almost none. If I had survived for like one more second, I would be dead. But nope, that's my luck! I guess the greed killed me.
I tried again, but this time I couldn't even reach the final boss. Then I went for one last try. But I wasn't so lucky with the items this time, and my build was not good. And I reached the boss room with just 4 red hearts, which didn't last long.
I couldn't even get through 25% of its health in the first phase. This defeat didn't feel as bad as the other one, where I was very close to defeating it.
Looks like I had 9 failed attempts in Greed Mode in a row. After these many failed attempts with one character, I was pretty frustrated, so I played a normal run before logging off just so I could keep myself sane.
I reached Satan, but he defeated me, too. Seems like God was punishing Isaac for taking those drugs? xD
Until next time...
