Its the year 2045 and the world is constantly undergoing drastic changes. Ranging from a more modernized internet services, human development went further to evolve a very few humans. This evolution gave a hand full of humans super powers.
Those with super powers are very rare. The can be found in ratio of 1 in 1 billion people. Based om this level of scarcity, they were treated as top government property and are properly managed to avoid any unforseen problems in the future.
Gift, a beautiful lady who first saw her powers during her teens, was dating a guy, Adam. It was a beautiful relationship as they made a perfect couple. They shared everything together, even their deepest secrets, but Gift refused to share her super powers with Adam. Unknown to Adam, he thought he has hit the jackpot by dating Gift, not knowing that she was hiding a major secret from him. She is a lady with the super power of reading minds. She could see the thoughts of everyone, here the emotions of each thought, and she could hear every of his thoughts.
At first, the relationship was all beautiful. Everybody saw the relationship as perfect and they envied the couple. Adam was a hard working man. Though things may be difficult, he put in his efforts to ensure that he gets enough for his Girlfriend, Gift.
Things went smoothly until when Adam began to work in a new job. After employment, there is an intensive training on studying the psychology and behavioral pattern of people that have super powers. Basically, his job is to serve as a psychologist to carefully monitor the psychological state of super powered humans.
Before getting the his girlfriend, Gift, was highly against the idea of learning the behavioral pattern of super powered humans as she feared that she will get exposed. Due to the huge pay involved and opportunities to meet influential people, Adam refused to listen to his girlfriend, and he went ahead with the training. His motivating factor was to marry Gift, and build a beautiful family with her. He has already imagined how happy they will be together in the nearest future.
During the course of the training, Adam's relationship was going as smoothly as it has always been, but then, after some months into the training, he subconsciously started observing that his partners behavior is most times closely similar to that of people with super power.
Blinded by love, he overlooked it and continued his studies and relationship not knowing that his mind was constantly being read by his girlfriend. After graduating, Adam began working but with the knowledge and experience he has gathered, he became highly suspicious that his girlfriend has a super power. He began to closely monitor her, and also, compare her behaviors to what he has studied and the experience he has with super powered people. One thing he didn't know was that every of his move was already known by his girlfriend because she's a mind reader.
One day, he decided to confront her about it, but she denied it. Even at this, the doubt in his mind was not quenched, Instead, it grew bigger.
After much contemplation, Gift decided to come clean and tell Adam everything about herself. This was when she told him of her ability to read minds. He was in disbelief and disappointment. He thought she was clean with him from the start, not knowing that throughout the 4 years of dating, he was with somebody that could read his every thought. Whats worst was that she did not tell him at first.
After a long painful night, Adam was not showing as much interest in Gift as he used to show, instead, he was withdrawn and deep in thought for a few days.
Normally, aren't couples supposed to know literally everything about each other? he asked himself. In response to his question, he added, "but if i could also read her mind, it will be a fair trade."
After thinking for a long time, he made the decision to continue with the relationship but under a condition. He called Gift and they sat together to talk. Adam promised not expose her super power, and was ready to continue the relationship, but some boundaries needs to be placed. They agreed that there should be no using of special abilities against another person's will, instead, every day, they will sit together and tell each other about how their day went and every thing that happened that day in details.
After settling the major issue, the relationship continued as their love for each other led the way.
