Hello Splinterlands fam!
The sun never sets in the land of splinters, as every time you enter this game, there’s always something new cooking. Just like the newly introduced Campaign mode, which is dedicated to helping new players learn about the basics and mechanics of the game through playing a series of chapters. Not only that, but by playing the campaign mode, players stand a chance to win cool cards and glint tokens upon completion of each chapter. Right now, players who joined the game can right away play the Book 1 in campaign mode named Waur Medge Academy, which consists of 11 interactive tutorial chapters that you will be playing in PvE mode. This campaign mode is designed in such a way to help the newcomers through a series of tutorials and also rewards them with cards and Glint tokens that you can use in the ranked play. The cards will be foundation cards, which will be replacing the starter level rebellion cards and one of the advantages worth mentioning is that you can use these cards while playing ranked matches. However, please note that these cards will be soul-bound in nature, which means they can not be traded, transferred, burned or combined and they neither contribute to collection nor to production power in Land. However, these cards can be used in ranked play to earn glint and SPS (if the player has staked SPS). So, if you are someone who just recently joined splinterlands and want to learn about the game in a fun and interactive way while earning some goodies for yourself, now is your chance to play the campaign mode.
Now moving forward, let me come to the main topic of this post, as today, I will be talking about the last black foil card that I received from my CA Alchemy packs. As I have shared in my previous posts, I bought a total of 417 Alchemy packs in the conclave arcana presale and after opening them all with midnight potions, I was very lucky to receive not one or two, but 6 black foil cards. In my previous posts, I have already talked about 5 of them and today, let’s finish the series by showcasing the last Black Foil monster that I got from my packs. As you have already seen in the thumbnail above, today I will be discussing the THUNDEROUS HERALD. So, if you are interested and want to know more about this CA monster, let’s take a dive without any further ado.
THUNDEROUS HERALD
Thunderous Herald is a monster card that came into existence with the launch of the latest CA edition card-set and it is a common type card, so you will need a total of 400 BCXs of regular foil cards or 38 BCXs of Gold foil cards to upgrade this monster to max level. This monster costs only 6 mana to be used in battles, so whenever you are playing medium to high mana limit matches, you may consider using this card in your lineup. The attack type of this monster is Magic and it belongs to the Life element. Another important thing about this monster is that it belongs to the Ulund bloodline. Now, I have a special corner in my heart for the magic monster, so I was excited to see it also possesses 3 abilities, along with strong stats.
Now, let us take a further look at this card’s overall stats and abilities to find out more about this cute-looking monster. At first glance, the attack power of this monster seems weak, as even at max level, it only gets 2 magic attack power. But, its other stats make up for that weakness, because it comes with a large health bar and a small amount of armour on top of it, not to mention its speed is also decent for a magic thrower. At max level, it possesses a powerful combo of 8 health + 1 armour, which is enough to defend against multiple enemy attacks. Not only that, at max level, it also gets 3 speed and 3 amazing abilities - Enfeeble, Relentless Strike and Execute, which I will be talking about below.
Enfeeble
With this ability, this monster will reduce the enemy monster’s melee attack by 1, every time it successfully launches an attack. So clearly, this is an anti-melee ability and will be useful when you are fighting against melee attacking mobsters.
Relentless Strike
This one is one of the best abilities that came out with the Conclave Arcana edition cards. With the help of this ability, attacks of this monster will deal true damage and will do +1 damage if the target monster has void, shield and forcefield ability. So whenever you guess that you will be battling against monsters carrying these abilities, you may want to keep this monster in your lineup.
Execute
Execute is another awesome ability that is gaining quick popularity. If the target has 2 or fewer health, then monsters with this ability, after a successful attack, perform another attack against the same unit. So this ability is a killer one for monsters with lower health (1-2). You can also try using one or two opportunity monsters along with this ability monster in such a way that the opportunity monsters will reduce the health of enemy monsters to 2 or 1 and the rest will be taken care of by the execute ability monster.
Overall, I find this monster worthy and useful under certain circumstances as discussed above. While its large health + armour combo will work as a defensive card and buy you enough time for your attackers, its unique set of abilities, on the other hand, will weaken certain types of cards. Thus, I think, despite being a common card, this mobster is indeed powerful and worthy of keeping in your collection.
I hope you enjoyed reading my post about the Thunderous Herald. Please let me know your thoughts about this monster in the comments section below, and I look forward to seeing you all in my next post.
Thanks for visiting my post, hope we meet again!
