Ah, the signs of spring! The tulips are blossoming, the grass is turning green, the trees are budding, and the Tom turkeys are strutting around in full plumage to woo the hens!
We have a lot of wild turkeys in our area. I came upon this dramatic scene while on a walk. At first I thought it was one male turkey and a few hens. But then I saw that there was an entire flock, with at least three Toms and probably five or six hens.
It was hard to capture a great picture of all three males because they were moving around among the trees. Here’s the one picture of three of them I was able to get.
And here’s a picture of the hens, looking nonchalant and uninterested.
The males are so majestic and yet humorous as they strut around. It’s really such a delightful display of nature.
