We as humans have some basic necessities. In addition to the physiological needs, like food, water and having fun, we also have some needs to bring us internal peace. Feel loved and care is one of them, but maybe privacy is a big one as well. Who never complained about our parents to read a note or a letter that we received from a friend or a boyfriend/girlfriend? We get angry when we feel the limits of our privacy being smashed and not respected. So if we get mad if we feel our privacy not being considered, imagined if our loved ones could read our minds?

Our mind is our last resort of privacy. In many houses people live with the entire family, parents, children, and relatives. Our minds are the only place where we think we are safe! So realizing that even our minds can be our safe place anymore is something dangerous. Of course that a good relationship is based in a truth talk between both sides, but we filter a lot of what we say in the daily routine.

It is important in a relationship that we put all the feelings that bothers us or the ones that make us happy on the table. It is good to share with someone, but still there are many thoughts that we try to keep to ourselves. Who never thought bad words about the other when we are angry? Now imagine if the other person knows that because of a superpower or something crazy? I really appreciate that telepathy is something only from Sci-Fi movies.

My first guess is if my wife could read my mind clear and loud she would get mad in the exact moment that she gains this power. She already gets mad sometimes about things that I even didn't think about it! But let's say that she had this power and she was hidden until now after almost 20 years of being together? Well, I would respect her a lot. Why? If somebody had this power and knows my thoughts for 20 years and never used them against me? That person is respecting me a lot. Who never found out a secret about your kid and tried to respect their boundaries? If it is a secret that won't harm my kid, I would do the best to pretend that I didn't know about it until my kid tell me directly. I would try my best to pretend that I didn't know, but that is the right way to respect the privacy. So I would feel the same with a person that knows everything in my mind for 20 years and never commented one word.

Secrets are part of our privacy and with or without telepathic powers, we should respect that in the others. Especially if we love these persons. For sure one of the reasons that I really have one step back with my mother nowadays is that she still doesn't respect much my privacy. So why I would give her all my respect ?

Nós, humanos, temos algumas necessidades básicas. Além das necessidades fisiológicas, como comida, água e diversão, também temos algumas necessidades que nos trazem paz interior. Sentir-se amado e cuidado é uma delas, mas talvez a privacidade também seja uma grande. Quem nunca reclamou dos pais para ler um bilhete ou carta que recebemos de um amigo ou namorado(a)? Ficamos com raiva quando sentimos que os limites da nossa privacidade estão sendo violados e não respeitados. Então, se ficamos bravos por sentirmos que nossa privacidade não está sendo considerada, imagine se nossos entes queridos pudessem ler nossas mentes?

Nossa mente é nosso último recurso de privacidade. Em muitas casas, as pessoas moram com toda a família: pais, filhos e parentes. Nossa mente é o único lugar onde achamos que estamos seguros! Portanto, perceber que até mesmo nossa mente pode ser nosso porto seguro é algo perigoso. É claro que um bom relacionamento se baseia em uma conversa sincera entre ambas as partes, mas filtramos muito do que dizemos no dia a dia.

É importante em um relacionamento colocarmos à mostra todos os sentimentos que nos incomodam ou que nos fazem felizes. É bom compartilhar com alguém, mas ainda há muitos pensamentos que tentamos guardar para nós mesmos. Quem nunca pensou mal do outro quando está com raiva? Agora imagine se a outra pessoa soubesse disso por causa de um superpoder ou algo doido? Eu realmente aprecio que telepatia seja algo só de filmes de ficção científica.

Meu primeiro palpite é que, se minha esposa pudesse ler minha mente com clareza e em voz alta, ela ficaria brava no exato momento em que ganhasse esse poder. Ela já fica brava às vezes com coisas que eu nem imaginava! Mas digamos que ela tivesse esse poder e estivesse escondida até agora, depois de quase 20 anos juntos? Bem, eu a respeitaria muito. Por quê? Se alguém tivesse esse poder, soubesse dos meus pensamentos por 20 anos e nunca os usasse contra mim? Essa pessoa me respeita muito. Quem nunca descobriu um segredo sobre seu filho e tentou respeitar seus limites? Se for um segredo que não prejudique meu filho, eu faria o possível para fingir que não sabia até que meu filho me contasse diretamente. Eu me esforçaria ao máximo para fingir que não sabia, mas essa é a maneira correta de respeitar a privacidade. Então, eu sentiria o mesmo com uma pessoa que sabe tudo o que se passa na minha cabeça há 20 anos e nunca comentou uma palavra.

Segredos fazem parte da nossa privacidade e, com ou sem poderes telepáticos, devemos respeitar isso nos outros. Especialmente se amamos essas pessoas. Com certeza, um dos motivos pelos quais eu realmente tenho um passo para trás com minha mãe hoje em dia é que ela ainda não respeita muito minha privacidade.
