Hoy, quiero presentarles la "Laguna Toreadora" o también conocida como "Laguna Toreador", ubicada en el Parque Nacional Cajas, Ecuador. Un lugar donde es fácil conseguir paz, respirar aire puro, pero también un lugar donde hace mucho frío por sus bajas temperaturas.

Today, I want to introduce you to the "Laguna Toreadora" or also known as "Laguna Toreador", located in the Cajas National Park, Ecuador. A place where it is easy to get peace, breathe fresh air, but also a place where it is very cold because of its low temperatures.
Mi familia y yo visitamos esta Laguna y la temperatura estaba por debajo de los 8 grados, fue una experiencia maravillosa, el lugar estaba algo lleno por la temporada de vacaciones, habían turistas nacionales e internacionales y al llegar al lugar en la entrada hay una cajuela donde te piden hacer un registro, para llevar el control del número de visitantes y saber de donde viajan para conocer la Laguna y todo el Parque Nacional.

My family and I visited this lagoon and the temperature was below 8 degrees, it was a wonderful experience, the place was a little crowded because of the vacation season, there were national and international tourists and when you arrive at the entrance there is a trunk where they ask you to register, to keep track of the number of visitors and to know where they travel from to know the lagoon and the entire National Park.

Luego de hacer el registro, hay varias escaleras y caminos, para llegar a la parte más baja de la montaña que es donde está la Laguna, la mayoría de los visitantes bajan por completo, en nuestro caso, solo bajó mi esposo y los dos niños pequeños, pero mi hija mayor y yo nos quedamos unos pasos más arriba ya que ella decía sentirse mal y tener mucho frío a pesar de lo muy abrigada que estaba. Al subir, tuvimos algunos inconvenientes con ella, ya que parece que le dió como mal de páramo, se le bajó todo, se puso muy pálida, parecía desmayarse y tuvimos que darle un caramelo para que pudiera ponerse en sí y seguir subiendo.

After checking in, there are several stairs and paths to get to the lowest part of the mountain where the lagoon is, most of the visitors go down completely, in our case, only my husband and the two small children went down, but my older daughter and I stayed a few steps higher because she said she felt bad and was very cold despite how warm she was. On the way up, we had some problems with her, as it seems that she had a kind of moor sickness, everything went down, she became very pale, she seemed to faint and we had to give her a candy so she could come to her senses and continue going up.

Las recomendaciones al visitar un lugar como este, es ir bien abrigados, llevar caramelos, alcohol y respirar profundo al subir, ya que no es lo mismo subir en un clima cálido, que en uno muy frío. Lo bueno es que los turistas también ayudan, en mi caso querían ayudarme con Amelie, pero como ella es autista, no dejó que nadie la tocará, un señor quería cargarla en la espalda para subirla hasta la salida, pero ella no aceptó, así que hicimos varias pausas, hasta lograr subir. Mientras tanto Joaquin, que es mi hijo más pequeño, estuvo feliz y quería seguir subiendo más montañas jajaja.

The recommendations when visiting a place like this, is to dress warmly, take candy, alcohol and breathe deeply when going up, because it is not the same to go up in a warm climate, than in a very cold one. The good thing is that tourists also help, in my case they wanted to help me with Amelie, but as she is autistic, she did not let anyone touch her, a man wanted to carry her on his back to take her up to the exit, but she did not accept, so we made several pauses, until we managed to climb. Meanwhile Joaquin, who is my youngest son, was happy and wanted to continue climbing more mountains hahaha.
Realmente, la experiencia es única, son esos lugares que te llevan a valorar la vida, la creación y entender lo pequeños que somos en un mundo tan maravilloso y lleno de naturaleza. Todo el paisaje es tan amplio, que la mirada se pierde y es casi imposible no relajarse en ese lugar.

Como dato importante, entre las escaleras hay pequeños miradores, como paradas para que los turistas podamos descansar y también disfrutar de la vegetación del lugar.
Creo realmente que mis hijos pequeños fueron valientes al terminar de llegar hasta abajo, donde el frío eran imponente y ya no habían escaleras para esa parte del recorrido. Mi esposo optó por colocarse el gorro de mi hija mayor que se quedó conmigo un poco más arriba, ya que el frío era demasiado y aunque se veía gracioso lo importante era protegerse.
