What Rebellion Cards Have the Best Rental ROI?
Splinterlands is one of the areas where I've tried to find some use for my limited Python knowledge.
On Splinterlands, I do own some assets, which I occasionally sell to buy something else — as I'm currently doing with my last Chaos Legion cards — or rent them out to other players, in both cases with the aim of increasing the value of what I own.
So I often find myself in need of information.
Without information, making a decision is simply impossible — unless you want to leave it to chance... but why hope for luck when you can make a logical, fact-based decision?
Not that this means you can't still make mistakes, but if you do, at least you’ll learn something and maybe do better next time.
That’s why, a few days ago, I decided to step away — at least temporarily — from a project I was working on — because yes, it really was too ambitious for me — to try heading down a slightly different path.
Chasing the Best ROI
Luckily, some of the code I had already written fits perfectly and will help me find out which Rebellion cards provide the best return on investment (ROI) when rented out.
The idea is very simple: take all the Rebellion cards and check the price they’ve been rented for over the past few weeks; then take that price and compare it to the current market price of each card.
The result will allow me to assess the ROI of each individual card, helping me identify which ones offer the best return relative to their purchase cost.
Obviously, this is just a guideline, because historical data shows a trend, not a certainty.
A card might have rented very well last month, only to perform poorly the next.
Maybe that’s not so likely under normal conditions... but what happens if new cards are released that completely shake up the meta?
Of course, I'm thinking about the upcoming release of the new Conclave Arcana set, which will bring a lot of changes and likely shift the usefulness of many cards — some may become much stronger... or much weaker!
Buying now is therefore risky, even if I manage to get the information I need.
Waiting, however, could be just as dangerous: what if the value of DEC drops again? Or if the price of Rebellion cards spikes as soon as Chaos Legion is no longer playable in Modern format?
There are risks in every direction... but where there are risks, there’s also potential for gain!
Right now, my focus needs to be finishing this script — maybe by the time I publish this post it’ll be done? — and then, based on the data I’ve gathered, making a decision.
Nothing more, nothing less.
As I thought the script is almost ready! It's still in an immature and very basic form, but it has already allowed me to get the information I was looking for... and to make my first purchase :) in the next post we'll see which card convinced me enough to make me reinvest about $26.

Quali Sono le Carte Rebellion con il Miglior ROI per il Noleggio?
Splinterlands è uno degli ambiti in cui ho cercato di trovare qualche applicazione per le mie limitate conoscenze di Python.
Su Splinterlands possiedo infatti un po' di assets, che ogni tanto vendo per riacquistare qualcos'altro - come sto facendo con le mie ultime carte del set Chaos Legion - e noleggio agli altri giocatori, in entrambi i casi nell'ottica di provare ad aumentare il valore di ciò che possiedo.
Mi trovo quindi spesso nella condizione di aver bisogno di informazioni.
Senza informazioni prendere una decisione è, infatti, impossibile, a meno di non volersi affidare al caso... ma perchè sperare nella sorte quando si può prendere una decisione logica supportata dai fatti?
Non che anche così non si possa sbagliare, ma se succede almeno si impara qualcosa e si potrà provare a fare meglio la volta successiva.
Ecco perchè qualche giorno fa ho deciso di abbandonare - almeno temporaneamente - un progetto a cui stavo lavorando - perchè sì, era davvero troppo ambizioso per me - per provare a seguire una strada un po' diversa.
Inseguendo il miglior ROI
Per fortuna parte del codice che avevo già scritto fa proprio al caso e mi servirà per scoprire quali sono le carte del set Rebellion che, una volta noleggiate, garantiscono il miglior return on investment (ROI).
L'idea è molto semplice: prendere tutte le carte del set Rebellion e vedere a quale prezzo sono state noleggiate nelle ultime settimane; poi prendere questo prezzo e metterlo in rapporto con l'attuale prezzo di mercato di ogni singola carta.
Il risultato mi consentirà di valutare il ROI di ogni singola carta, permettendomi di individuare quelle che offrono il miglior ritorno a fronte del loro prezzo di acquisto.
Ovviamente questa è solo una indicazione, perchè i dati storici indicano una tendenza, non una certezza.
Una carta potrebbe essere stata noleggiata benissimo il mese scorso e poi andare molto male quello successivo.
Magari non è così probabile in una situazione normale... ma che succede se escono nuove carte che sconvolgono completamente il meta?
Ovviamente sto pensando all'imminente uscita del nuovo set Conclave Arcana, che porterà parecchie novità e probabilmente anche variazioni nell'utilità di molte carte che potrebbero divenire molto più forti... o molto più deboli!
Fare un acquisto adesso è perciò rischioso, anche riuscendo ad avere accesso alle informazioni che mi interessano.
Aspettare, però, potrebbe essere altrettanto pericoloso: e se il valore del DEC tornasse a scendere? O se il prezzo delle carte Rebellion salisse parecchio non appena le Chaos Legion non potranno più essere giocate nel formato Modern?
In ogni direzione ci sono rischi... ma dove ci sono rischi, ci sono anche guadagni potenziali!
Adesso ciò su cui devo concentrarmi è finire quanto prima questo script - forse quando pubblicherò questo post sarà già pronto? - e, a quel punto, prendere una decisione sulla base dei dati raccolti.
Niente di più, niente di meno.
Come pensavo lo script è quasi pronto! È ancora in una forma acerba e molto basilare, ma mi ha già consentito di ottenere le informazioni che cercavo... e di fare il mio primo acquisto :) nel prossimo post vedremo quale carta mi ha convinto abbastanza da farmi reinvestire circa 26 dollari.
